A bit ofhistory...

When channeled, the Adour river flows in her bed definitive, the river, leaving a string of coastal lakes. The most extensive is that of Hossegor. Fishing in salt water lake ofHossegor is regulated. It is prohibited in swimming areas as well as in a radius of 50 meters around them. Fishing with drift nets is also prohibited. Finally, the excavation of the floor of the marine lake with the help of tools or machines to search for bait is not allowed. 

The marine lake of Hossegor follows the tides of the ocean through the channel of the Boucarot, but more soft, and slightly offset. The variations in the level and currents are less strong than in the ocean.

Water skiing on the lake ofHossegor is regulated. Only members of the association ” Lake of Hossegor water skiing ” are allowed to perform this activity. Any practice-profit water skiing is prohibited.

From 1 June to 30 September, dogs are not allowed on all the beaches of the ocean and the lake ofHossegor. From September to April, they are allowed on the boardwalk around the lake on the condition of being kept on a leash.
